About My Colors
MyColorsnyc came to be out of a life~long love for designing and creating along with a fascination for beading and jewelry, as well as the pride I have for being a latina and, finally, the urge to start a business of my own.I remember the first day I got the idea for the Puerto Rican flag necklaces. I was on the N train in NYC, with my best friend and the idea just came to me. My plan was to design something with our flag using the beautiful Swarovski crystals. I wanted them to be classy, delicate and beautiful. I wanted them to be something people would be proud to wear. That was 8 years ago. I didn’t show anyone, except my boyfriend, for so long.
I always intended to sell them, but, it took so long to to get the courage to try. I finally decided to give it a shot, when I was in Puerto Rico looking for authentic Puerto Rican handy~crafts to give away as souvenirs. I was so disappointed when I saw that almost everything was “Made in China”. I realized then that I should at least take a chance.
I've since, tried to add several variations of the same theme, to appeal to all tastes. Now, thanks to ebay, and my website, I'm able to share my hobby with everybody.
I'm proud of my little accomplishment. I feel like I started a small trend. And, in a couple of years If/when I see people wearing them, It will put a smile on my face :)
